Demo Walkthrough

The Cleaner Company free demo puts you aboard the Flying Canteen: a cosmic restaurant once famous for cheap food and spectacular space views, now a bloody wreck. Your job as a Star Wiper is to wash the gore, survive whatever still crawls the corridors, and tidy up the alien chickens. This walkthrough is written for the demo loop on Steam and Epic—solo or online co-op up to four—while the full game remains scheduled for 2026 from Wildflame Studio and Mythwright. If you still need day-one basics, skim Getting Started first.

Demo goals at a glance

  • Restore the Canteen to company standards: liquids, solids, stains, debris, and bio-mess.
  • Use the right tool for each surface—mop, cosmic vacuum, trash grinders, powerwashers—covered in depth on Cleaning equipment.
  • Decide whether monsters stay on. Difficulty can untoggle threats for a pure cleaning shift; survival tips live in Survive threats.
  • Extract with a clean score you are proud of, then compare notes with squad roles from the Co-op guide.

Treat the Canteen like a restaurant reclaim job, not a deathmatch arena.

  1. Scout without over-committing — Walk the main dining floor, kitchen lines, service corridors, and view decks. Mark loud mess clusters and listen for creature audio before you empty a magazine into a wall you still have to scrub.
  2. Secure a staging room — Pick a relatively clear pocket for spare tools, temporary trash piles, and regroups. In co-op, say which room is “clean staging” so nobody dumps bodies there.
  3. Remove solids and bodies first — Grinders and vacuum passes prevent you from mopping around obstacles forever. Predecessor corpses and chunky debris are demo flavor and practical blockers.
  4. Hit high-traffic liquids next — Dining floors and kitchen runoff spread when walked through. Mop with a plan; powerwash stubborn films after bulk liquid is gone.
  5. Detail corners and vertical mess — Splatter on counters, windows with a view, and under tables is where “almost clean” runs die.
  6. Animal control with dignity — Alien chickens are part of the bit. Herd, contain, or clean around them without creating new stains for comedy’s sake—unless comedy is the contract.
  7. Final sweep as a team — One player walks a “inspector path” while others fix callouts. Do not everyone re-mop the same tile.

Tool priorities inside the Canteen

  • Mop — Primary weapon against blood and alien liquids across dining floors.
  • Cosmic vacuum — Loose trash, crumbs of horror, and lightweight debris before they scatter under furniture.
  • Trash grinders — Dense waste and organic chunks that laugh at a mop head.
  • Powerwashers — Baked-on layers and wide stained panels after bulk cleanup.
  • Guns / flamethrower — Emergency security. Remember every fight can unpaid-overtime your cleaning clock. Prefer Survive threats tactics over panic spraying.

Bind comfort matters under pressure—review Controls and the wider Tools hub before a four-player session.

Co-op callouts that save the Canteen

  • “Kitchen liquids—mop only.”
  • “Dining solids first, then vacuum.”
  • “Fighting in the view deck—expect re-clean.”
  • “Staging is the side corridor; do not dump there.”
  • “Chickens moving to port side—hold powerwash.”

Two cleaners on the same stain while the kitchen floods is the classic fail. Split zones by room, not by vibes. Full squad doctrine: Co-op guide.

Monsters in the demo

Parasites, Slimes, Screamers, and other “cuties” may sniff around the wreck. If you want the horror-comedy pitch, leave them on and clear lanes before detailing. If you are teaching a friend the mop physics, untoggle monsters and enjoy the restaurant reclaim fantasy. Either way, combat mess is still your mess—budget time to re-clean fight rooms.

How the demo connects to playtest locations

The earlier playtest spotlighted Experimental Laboratory and Polar Facility—research chaos and ice-planet cold respectively. The demo’s Flying Canteen teaches the same grammar: physics mess, tool identity, optional threats, and slapstick co-op. Use the Locations guide to compare biomes, and Demo & playtest notes plus the Updates hub for what changed between builds.

Scoring mindset (without spoiling every meter)

Aim for visible completeness: floors you would eat off of (please don’t), cleared service paths, and no forgotten gore under booth seats. Challenges that feed ranks and gear unlocks matter more as the 2026 release expands contracts—practice clean habits now so upgrades on the Equipment tier list feel earned later.

After you clear the Canteen

  1. Re-run with different roles (full mop main vs security flex).
  2. Try a monsters-off precision clean, then a monsters-on survival clean.
  3. Read Locations to know what full-game facility types are teased.
  4. Wishlist / follow storefronts via Links and Wiki.
  5. Return to the Guides hub when new contracts drop.

The Flying Canteen is a messy love letter to co-op cleaning. Leave it sparkling—or leave it hilarious. Company policy allows both, as long as the paperwork says “complete.”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Star Wipers before the next contract.

What map is in the Cleaner Company demo?

The free demo centers on the Flying Canteen, an orbital restaurant disaster site. Clean gore, handle alien chickens, and optionally fight monsters.

Is the demo the same as the playtest?

No. The playtest featured Experimental Laboratory and Polar Facility. The demo’s headline location is Flying Canteen. Core cleaning and co-op systems carry across.

Can I play the demo solo?

Yes. Solo is supported. Online co-op supports up to four players if you want maximum chaos.

Should I fight monsters before cleaning?

Secure immediate threats, then clean. Fighting everywhere first often re-stains rooms and wastes time—unless a creature is actively hunting you.

Where do I go after finishing the demo?

Read the Co-op guide and Locations guide, track Updates for build changes, and keep an eye on the 2026 full release on Steam and Epic.
